This past weekend affiliates from North Carolina made the trek to Fort Mill, South Carolina to compete in the 2014 Newbreed Crystal Cup Open. They say kids are the future and if this is true, than the future looks extremely bright in North Carolina!
In the 6 and under division Bryson Bushart took home 2nd. In the 9-11 year old intermediate division Levi Dennis took first in his weight, 2nd in the next weight class up and 3rd in the advanced gi division! In the 14-15 beginner division Leeroy Ortiz was crowned champion in both the gi and no gi divisions! Not to be outdone, Louie Ortiz was also crowned champion of the 16-17th year old beginner division in gi and no gi. Louie also stepped up and competed in the adult division taking home 2nd.
In the adult divisions, Randi Edison finished 3rd in no gi and first in gi! Tim Bates took home first in the no gi and gi! Luiz Martinez Ramos rook home first in no gi advanced division and 2nd in the purple belt lightweight division.
In the masters division, Timothy Edison got 2nd in both gi and no gi. Charles Hammrick took home 3rd.
As a team Caio Terra Association took home 2nd the kids and teens team division!! Congrats to all those who competed, something tells me this is the beginning of something very special!
