When I started CTA it was never a goal to have the biggest team, win the most titles or produce world champions. I looked for people who were the right fit and believed that through jiu jitsu we could change lives.
Thats why this past weekend was so special, not because we won the San Jose Open Gi and NoGi titles but because I got to share the experience with so many great people.

It’s been 4 years since we launched the Caio Terra Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association and we have been making waves ever since. In 2016 we won the IBJJF San Jose Open, gi and no gi divisions, the BJJ tour overall trophy (Us Open, American Cup, All star tournament) and placed first at no gi worlds in the masters division!
Last weekend Ryan Walsh competed in the 9th edition of the Eddie Bravo Invitational. Ryan trained extremely hard for this event and had to over come some injuries to make it possible. Unfortunately I also competed that same weekend at no gi worlds so I was unable to make it down to help him prepare.
This past weekend CTA Athletes, Gabriel Marangoni, Guthierry Barbosa, Renato Tagliari, Carlos Capela, and Renee Lopez made the trip to compete in the IBJJF LA Pro. In the adult black belt division, Gabriel Marangoni took home gold and the check..
Over the course of the last year, Caio Terra Brazil lead by professor Caio Terra with the help of Professors Alessandro Nunes and Thiago Dias has continued to grow! This year alone we have added over 10 affiliates in Brazil and are growing every day!
Another month has passed and another round of belt upgrades have happened! May was a busy month with the Caio Terra Association! Lot’s of hard work put in on the mats and our students performances reflected this. Congratulations to all of our competitors and coaches! Remember that it’s not about beating your opponents as much as it is about being the best you you can be!
