This past weekend Patrick Beaudoin from Modern Jiu Jitsu in Montreal Canada headed down to Glens Falls, New York for NAGA. Patrick wrote that this it was an all around great day. None of his students could make the trip because they had another one next saturday and they didnt want to risk injury but he always looks for opportunities to compete. So he head down down by himself with some long time training partners and every one wrecked shop.
His first two matches were basically identical. He pulled halfguard, switch to DLR, and attacked the straight foot lock. He finished his first opponent with it but his second transitioned to toe hold so he switched to a heel hook for the win. In the final he pulled guard again, worked half guard but could not get the DLR. He ended up working a back take winning the final on points!
For Patrick no matter the outcome of the final he would have considered the day a win. He had been working really hard on that foot lock since training with Caio at the main academy, and to pull it off in competition was awesome!
Patrick has been on a tear, last weekend he won a super fight via inverted triangle. Next up is the tournament in Ottawa followed by another one in Canada. Four tournaments in four weeks!
Congrats to Patrick on all his success and GOOD LUCK to every one this weekend. Lets go CTA!!
