Last night I had the honor of awarding Carlos Melo his 4th degree! I’ve known Carlos for over 15 years and to see him grow on the mats and in life has been truly a blessing. When Carlos started jiu jitsu he set for himself two very lofty goals, to get a black belt and to become a world champion. After getting 2nd in 2007, 3rd in 2008, in 2009 he finally reached his first goal of becoming a world champion. That same year he was awarded his black belt. 14 years later here we are! Congrats Carlos and to everyone Gilroy on their recent promotions. To many more years of jiu jitsu, good times and friendship!
