This past weekend I was invited to go over to Arizona for two very special occasions. The first was to award our affiliate and my good friend Jay Pages his second degree on his black belt. For many, degrees on black belt are a way to mark the time, for Jay this is not the case. In the past three years I have seen him grow as an instructor, student and friend and this degree marks growth in all of these areas. It was humbling to get to share this experience with so many of our team, over 100 CTA members were in attendance!
The second occasion was to help coach the team at the Grand Cannon State Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships. This was the second major tournament for our Arizona association and it was amazing to see how much we have grown in such a short time. With athletes lead by our three affiliate instructors Jay Pages, Mike Martin and Kevin Scott we came home with first!! Leading up to this competition they held regular cross training held at each others gyms. This gave
their students not only a chance to train with others but also learn from three very good instructors. Kevin, Mike and Jay are doing a phenomenal job and are a true definition of what CTA is all about. We >i, one team, one family, CTA!
